Mechhdyne Conduit Software
This software solution enables desktop applications for PC clusters and multi-channel visualization systems such
as the Mechdyne CAVE, FLEX, PowerWall, and other high-resolution displays. Without any change to the desktop
application, the Conduit middleware layer provides the following capabilities:
Support for multi-channel, multi-planar 3-D display systems such as the Mechdyne CAVE
Stereoscopic viewing for true depth perception and more insightful design reviews
Real-time changes in viewing perspective as the user moves within a virtual environment
Enhanced resolution output using cluster-based, multi-projector, tiled displays
Conduit intercepts OpenGL calls from a desktop application and redistributes them to a PC cluster. Each node of
the cluster receives the calls and displays the geometry after making the necessary transformations to support the
viewing perspective defined for that PC. For example, a four- node cluster is easily configured to drive a four-wall
CAVE, with each node responsible for one of the walls.
Mechdyne FLEX Visualization System
Mechdyne FLEX was the first and is now the most widely used commercial re-configurable visualization system in
the world. In less than 5 minutes, one person can configure the FLEX into a flat vertical display, an immersive room,
or an angled wall.
